Since I left California I have been pining for beers from the Russian River Brewing Company. I have tried quite a few beers from the east coast that I enjoy but none wowed me like Pliny the Elder or the Blind Pig I.P.A. until I tried Peeper Ale from Maine Brewing Company. As with all things good these beers are hard to find and are made in limited amounts.
The key to these beers is balance. The hops and malts play their roles perfectly and in harmoney with each other. Each time you take a sip you will experience what I feel are some of the most perfect beers brewed in the U.S.A. You will never be overwhelmed by too many hops or bored by too few. These are amazing beers that I hope will grace my fridge from now on!
The Pepper Ale sounds interesting. Personally I have a preference for dark beers but I have my favorites among the other variety as well. I like Asahi beer (Japanese) it has a good flavor.
There is not a wide selection of beers from all over the world available at all shops. Even larger shopping outlets don't carry very many brands. You have to definitely go to a store that specializes in liquor.
