As life has caught up with me the past few weeks, I have neglected one of my favorite pastimes...my blog. Well, on Saturday evening Shauna and I met up with my Dad and his wife for a week on Maui. So it is back to the blog.
It has been over 20 years since I have been to any island of this fair state and I have now realized it has been too long. We have only been here two full days and it really is heaven on the Pacific. Of course, we have added to our piece of heaven with a case of wine. We have only had a fourth of it so far with two days left, so we will have to get to drinking.
We have only skimmed the surface of the wines I brought but we have thoroughly enjoyed each one. The first was a Grand Cru Blanc de Blance non-vintage Champagne from Franck Bonville (a direct import from K & L Wine Merchants of San Francisco). The wine was a great way to enjoy the setting sun and a cheese plate from a local cheese store called, Who Cut the Cheese (really!). The shop was a revelation. Amazing selection of cheeses and really killer wines. The thing that has struck me most is that everything is MORE expensive in Hawaii, except wine! Our next two bottles were enjoyed tonight (10/5): Pagos das Tapias "Alma de Blanco" Godello 2008 from Monterrei in Galicia. It is a plesent wine that was a nice apertif but I have had better Godello. Tonight's dinner was a grilled Mahi-Mahi that was caught this morning. We served it with some local mangos and enjoyed one of my favorite wines: Domaine Sigalas, Assyrtiko from Santorini. It was a great pairing with the light fish, sweet mango and warm evening. We have got a bit more wine to get through, half a filet of Mahi-Mahi and some pineapple, so more to come.
Aloha!
I guess that to receive the loan from banks you ought to present a firm reason. But, one time I've received a term loan, just because I wanted to buy a bike.
