I took four years of German in high school. Why would you take German in Texas? Why not Spanish? Herr Cooke was the "coolest" teach in school and I was not cool so I thought I could at least learn from someone cool. It has been a few years since my last German class, but I am finally making it to Germany and am super stoked (I am also hitting Burgundy too!). In preperation for my trip Shauna and I enjoyed a simple dinner of roast salmon, blanched green beans (from our farm box box) and an amazing bottle of 2004 Augsut Kesseler, Assmannshauser Hollenberg, Spatburgunder (aka Pinot Noir) from the Rheingau, Germany. The wine was beautiful: rich, ripe, nuanced, and balanced. Full of raspberries, strawberry jam, spice, hints of stone and love. As I continue to prepare for my Master Sommelier exam in Feburary I felt that these two regions were two of the most important to see in person. I just picked up an Iphone so hopefully I won't have many connectivity issues. I am hoping to blog my way through each of the regions and let yall know what I'm seeing, tasting, and living.
So beautiful! thanks for sharing and happy anniversary Dave & Nancy**********************
