Who says you have to be a wine geek to drink old or odd wine (or both)? We just spent a weekend with friends on Lake Tahoe, and I brought out a few older white wines that people just fawned over. These were "little wines" - a 2001 Hochheimer Hölle Kabinett Riesling from Domdechant Werner and a white Entre-deux-Mers from Chateau Bonnet, also '01 - not immensely age worthy, but not over their prime by any means.
My friends are lovely people to the last one of them, but not terribly wine-focused. I brought wines that I would enjoy and let the chips fall where they may. While we didn't collectively drink nearly enough wine, opting for beer and bourbon instead, folks were not only appreciative, but outright enthusiastic about the older bottles.
Is this so strange? Common wisdom is that non-geeks only drink current vintages, mainly because they don't bother to put something away for a few years, but perhaps also because they enjoy the fresh fruit from a fresh bottle. But as these wines mellow and gain some bottle complexity, there is something there to appeal to these palates, as well. Because old wine is yummy. And yumminess knows no boundaries. Just ask The Monster on Young Frankenstein.
I had got a dream to make my organization, but I didn't earn enough of money to do that. Thank God my close friend recommended to utilize the loan. Hence I took the secured loan and realized my dream.
